1920s Colonial Porch

Even the simplest-seeming job requires a level of expertise to be done right. The owners of this 1920s Colonial overlooking the Willamette found their first contractor unqualified for their porch renovation. We took the plans, refined the design and gave the clients the more polished look they wanted. Most importantly, the columns, proscenium arch, extended eave, and slate-surfaced steps are all perfectly proportioned to the scale of the house.

Knowing that [the front porch] would be the focal point of the house, we wanted only the finest artisans in all of Portland to bring the old porch back to life – this had become a labor of love!  My daughter, a landscape architect, researched several local design firms, and after meeting with Wade Freitag, decided that Craftsman Design and Renovation was clearly the one for the job.
