1904 Dutch Colonial

When the new owners bought this neglected and abused 1904 Dutch Colonial, it required interior and exterior renovation throughout. The home-buyers had been looking for an older-style home with character. We brought to life not just the house's charm, but the couple's dream.

The living room gained some grandeur after we removed an enclosed porch area and designed and built a new front-facing wall for the living room with leaded glass windows. The living room and library required the careful removal of several layers of wallpaper and stripping and repair of window moldings. We selected period wallpaper friezes and paint colors to return the rooms to their original beauty.

As in many of these old Dutch Colonial's rooms, the dining room required replacing the ceiling, expertly patching cracked wall plaster, and matching missing plate rail and trim. The owners were delighted that the rooms looked like well-preserved gems, not new construction.

Our house went from being the neighborhood’s neglected stepchild to the belle of the ball.
