About Us

In the summer of 2005, Jamie and Joe met and quickly determined that they enjoyed spending time together both inside and out of the kitchen.  They moved to Whidbey Island with the intent to eventually open their own restaurant, but first hatched a plan to spend three months in Europe. After two months as stagaires at Restaurant Le Jardin du Quai in Isle Sur la Sorgue, France, Jamie and Joe spent time traveling through La Mancha, Spain visiting Jamie’s father’s side of the family with Jamie’s grandmother as their guide. After a short visit to Italy and a memorable meal of white truffles in Asti, it was time to return home.

Back in Washington on Whidbey Island, Jamie and Joe purchased and then remodeled the Oystercatcher restaurant, featuring local, sustainable, Whidbey Island products prepared simply and served in a comfortable seaside setting. Jamie and Joe were married on the 29th of September, 2007 and now live in Coupeville on Whidbey Island with their cat Zoe.
